Apple has released the latest Apple iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone 4S to fix the disturbingly short battery life issue, adds multitasking gestures for ipad, resolves bugs with documents in the Cloud and improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation.

The iOS 5.0.1 update is also the first Apple OTA update that can be updated without the use of iTunes. This has greatly reduced the update time from the normal half an hour to just 10 minutes.

There have been mixed reviews on the battery life of iPhone 4S after the iOS 5.0.1 update. I’m still monitoring the battery life of my iPhone 4S after the update.

Hopefully, my iPhone 4S battery life will last longer after this update.

Now, that sounds more logical. With the iPad 2 released for just half a year, it makes no economical sense to release a new version of the iPad that fast.

Unnamed sources stated that iPad manufacturers are unable to achieve a good yield as the new iPad is rumored to feature a higher resolution display of 2048 by 1536 compared with iPad 2′s resolution display of 1024 by 768.

Hope that’s not the only new feature that iPad 3′s gonna have or it’ll be hard for me to ditch my iPad 2 for an iPad 3.

It’s a tie! The US International Trade Commission (ITC) has ruled that Apple Mac OS X has infringed the S3 patent.

That means HTC now has a counter measure against Apple’s patent lawsuit since HTC has recently purchased S3 for $300 million dollars.

HTC has expressed that they are willing to negotiate with Apple over its ongoing patents dispute and wants to avoid a courtroom showdown. Of course! Who would want to give million of dollars to laywers over a meaningless dispute?

Let’s just hope that HTC and Apple can settle this dispute once and for all so that we, the consumers, will not become the sacrificial lambs!

The new iOS 4.3.4 which is supposed to be prone to jailbreaking is already jailbroken? Hilarious.

According to an internet source, a team called “redmondpie” has successfully hacked the iOS 4.3.4 and ‘enabled’ the jailbreaking to work on iOS 4.3.4. There’s a catch though. The jailbreaK program is tethered which means that everytime you power down and power up the iPad, you’ll need to re-install the jailbreak program and it doesn’t work for iPad 2.

That means if you don’t want to install the jailbreak program everytime you power down the iPad or if you have an iPad 2, the best bet is to stick with iOS 4.3.3.

It appears that Sears has listed the 16GB iPad 2 as selling for $69 and the 32GB version for $169 a few days ago, prompting an incredible surge in orders in hours.

Unfortunately you guessed it, it was a mistake. This was what Sears replied – “Dear Valued Customer: We want you to know that, unfortunately, today one of the Marketplace third party sellers told us that they had mistakenly posted incorrect pricing information on two Apple iPad models on the Marketplace portion of the website. If you purchased either of these products recently, your order has been cancelled and your account will be credited.”

They’ve already canceled all orders and refunded the credits but the hordes of angry customers are not buying it and wants the dealer to honor the deal.

Well, that goes to show – If a deal is too good to be true, it usually is …

The US International Trade Commission has ruled that HTC illegally used two patents held by Apple.

HTC responded saying that it will appeal the ruling. In another report, HTC will be buying back it’s shares to prevent tumbling of the share price after the ruling.

While it is unlikely that the US import ban of HTC products will be imposed, there is a high chance that HTC will have to pay royalties to Apple for the patent infringement. Either ways, this will definitely affect the profits of HTC.

However, it is mentioned in another report that HTC has purchased the company S3 Graphics recently, the company that Apple has violated some of it’s patent. HTC is bound to use S3 Graphics as a pawn to “counter” Apple by negotiating a patent license.

Looks like we, the consumers, will be in for a “roller coaster ride” as the battle continues! Who will emerge the winner in this fierce battle, only time will tell.

Apple has released the latest patch iOS 4.3.4 to fix a vulnerability in the CoreGraphics frameworks resulting in the way that PDF files were handled. In short, the ‘Jailbreak’ vulnerability.

Apple claims that this vulnerability is expoited by hackers who create malware apps to steal information from iPads, iPhones and iPod Touch devices. I guess what Apple really wanted to do is to stop people from jailbreaking which is hurting it’s iTunes app store income.

Well, I guess as long as you don’t update this iOS 4.3.4 patch, you’ll still be able to jailbreak your iPad, iPhone and iPad Touch devices provided you’re not concern of the malware apps that may be sitting in your device waiting to steal your valuable data.

I’m pretty sure that the ‘Jailbreak’ programmers are now cracking their heads on how to ‘fix’ the iOS 4.3.4 vulnerability fix.

Apple has finally spoken and filed lawsuits against the giants Samsung and HTC for infringing its patents.

While Apple claims that HTC has ‘stolen’ twenty of its patent, HTC countered that they respects other companies patents and is committed in defending it’s own technology patents. Does that mean that there will be an import ban on HTC products in the near future?

In yet another dispute, Apple claims that the electronic giant Samsung has stolen its patent for its innovative user interface and used it in their own tablets. Samsung said that they would fight back. Will this spell the end of the Apple-Samsung relationship as Samsung is the provider of several iPhone and iPad electronic parts?

Whatever the result, the consumers are likely to be the losing party. Why not let bygones be bygones? We can only hope that there will be a win-win situation for all in this battle.

After the release of the jailbreak solution for iPad 2 and iPhone 4, in less than a day, more than 1 million iPad 2 and iPhone 4 have been jailbroken. Quite an amazing feat I should say.

Apple has recently announced that it would patch and close the jailbreak hole in the coming iOS 5. Bad news for those who are looking forward to installing the new iOS 5 and also jailbreaking their iPad 2 and iPhone 4.

I’m pretty sure that someone out there will be trying very hard to break the Apple patch once the iOS 5 is officially released. So for those who wants to jailbreak their iPad 2 and iPhone 4, you’ll need to do it fast or forgo the iOS 5 upgrade.
